Color Fastness to Light: Analysis of 5 Testing Methods in ISO 105-B02

Image
ISO 105-B02 is a testing method for determining color fastness to artificial light, which uses Xenon arc lamp as light sources to simulate the exposure of fabrics to sunlight. It not only provides five testing methods but also includes five appendices, which are quite complex in content. Therefore, operators often encounter many problems in actual applications. Test Principle of color fastness to light A specimen of the textile to be tested is exposed to artificial light under controlled conditions, together with a set of reference materials. The color fastness is assessed by comparing the change in color of the test specimen with that of the reference materials used. Reference Materials and Apparatus Reference Materials ISO 105-B02 mentioned two sets of blue wool reference totally, of which the blue wool reference 1~8 is preferred in Europe and the blue wool reference L2~L9 in America. It is noteworthy that the results from these two sets of references are not interchangeable. Apparat...

A Brief Introduction to Hydrostatic Head / Pressure Test

Image
In recent years, with the popularity of outdoor activities, consumers’ demand for textiles with waterproof and splash proof properties has greatly increased. The hydrostatic pressure resistance index is one of the important indicators for waterproof and breathable fabrics. What is Hydrostatic Pressure Test? Hydrostatic Pressure Test is to determine the resistance property to water penetration of fabric and material such as canvas, tarpaulin, manta, tent cloth, rain-proof garments. During testing, the hydrostatic pressure increasing at a constant rate is applied from below the test specimen, whilst firmly clamped in the test head of 100cm2 area, until penetration water-drop occurs in three places. Record the pressure at the moment water first appears at the third place in the specimen. Why does Hydrostatic Head Test Matter? Ensure product quality: Fabrics, especially outdoor material, must have good water resistance property. Through hydrostatic head test, the producer can ev...

What is Rod Coating? Techniques and Applications Unveiled

Image
Rod coating is a simple wet processing technique used to deposit a thin layer of solution onto a substrate. It involves a rod being placed above a substrate and dragged over a pool of fluid, resulting in the fluid being spread into a thin film or coating. Rod coating is commonly used in the development of applications such as automotive paints, photovoltaic cells and lithium ion batteries. This coating method is also referred to as drawdown coating and rod coating, or wire rod coating and Mayer rod coating, depending on the type of rod used. Types of coating rod There are two main coating rods which are extruded wire rods and spiral film applicator and they are the same in application and can be used interchangeably. Extruded wire rod Extruded wire rod is the simplest type, which is a straight rod suspended at a known distance above a substrate and passed through ink to leave a wet film. Using cold extrusion technology, continuous spiral grooves of different sizes are ext...

Jigger machine in textile: Structure and Function

Image
The jigger machine in textile is a dyeing machine suitable for dyeing woven fabrics made of cotton or polyester. In the jigger dyeing process, the cloth-collecting roller is used as the driving force. The fabric to be dyed is unwound from the cloth-releasing roller, colored in the dye liquid in the dye trough by the cloth-guiding roller, and then rolled up on the cloth-collecting roller. After the fabric on the cloth-releasing roller has finished running, it is rolled back. This reciprocating operation achieves the purpose of dyeing. In this article, I will introduce the functions and advantages of each structure of our company’s high temperature jigger dyeing machine. Bottom frame The bottom frame is located under the vessel, equipped with a motor and a slide rail to facilitate automatic opening and closing of the vessel. The whole is made of USU201 stainless steel, which is strong and durable. Vessel The vessel is the part of the jigger outside the main roller and the liquor vat. Whe...

Unlocking the Secrets of Jigger Dyeing: A Comprehensive Guide to Our Advanced Machines

Image
In the dyeing and weaving industry, the jigger process plays an important role in the entire fabric processing process. This process mainly involves dyeing the fabric evenly by jiggering the fabric multiple times in the jigger. The jigger is the machine that performs this dyeing process. This article will explore the types of jigger dyeing machines in our company and the differences between different jiggers. Atmospheric Atmospheric jigger dyeing machine is a kind of equipment that performs jig dyeing under the condition of 100℃ or below. Usually, the highest temperature of this kind of machine can reach 98℃, which depends on the requirements of dyeing process. It is divided into two types below, one is the normal temperature jigger dyeing machine for laboratory use, and the other is the normal temperature jigger dyeing machine for mass production. High temperature and high pressure Generally speaking, the uniformity of high-temperature dyeing is better than that of normal-temper...
